Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Village Open and receiving work teams?
Yes. Please see the "cohort" information on the Call For Volunteers page and the COVID Updates page. - Does the Village have a work partner?
Yes. New Hope Village is a part of the Craven County Disaster Recovery Alliance (CCDRA). Several construction organizations, including Habitat for Humanity of Craven County, World Renew and the Fuller Center Disaster Rebuilders, receive volunteers who are staying at New Hope Village. In addition, CCDRA in collaboration with the Village is developing its own construction capacity. - What kind of work might we be doing?
That depends on the skills and capacities of the team. You will receive a skill inventory after you register so that you can let our construction partners know what skills you will be bringing with you. You will talk directly with the work site supervisor before you come about what you will be working on. - Do we need to bring our own tools?
No and Yes. While our work partners have tools for rebuilding, if you have tools and equipment you prefer to use you are certainly welcome to bring them. - Is there a cost with staying at the Village?
Yes. $25 per night person. We have not increased the requested donation even though our costs have gone up because of the cleaning after each group. - Do you serve meals?
No. Because of the heightened concern for hygiene and the easy transmissibility of the Covid19 Virus groups are asked to prepare their own meals. There is a kitchen with stove, refrigerator freezer, dual sink, two microwave ovens and WAVE oven. The fellowship hall seats 100. - What kind of accommodations do you have?
We have bunkbeds with Tempur-Pedic Twin Long Mattresses. There are nine showers (4- stall shower room for men, a 4-stall shower room for women and a handicapped shower in one of two ADA bathrooms). There are also two washers and two dryers in the Village. - Do you have WI-FI?
Yes. There are two WIFI systems: one in the Fellowship Hall and WIFI throughout the Village Building (Ten Sleeping Rooms and the Lounge). - How does a group register?
